Returning for its 11th edition, @TechLaw.Fest 2026 marks a milestone year, coinciding with the bicentenary of Singapore's modern legal system.

Hack the Law Cambridge 2026 Hackathon
Heartiest congratulations our team on their achievements at the recent Hack the Law Cambridge 2026 Hackathon, held at the University of Cambridge. The Hackathon brought together interdisciplinary student teams to develop LLM-powered solutions for real-world legal challenges set by leading law firms and technology partners. Teams competed across challenge tracks presented by Clifford Chance, Linklaters, White & Case LLP, CMS, Harvey, Legora and others, pitching their solutions through multiple rounds before the grand finale.
Representing SMU, Team SMU Legal Innovation and Technology (LIT) placed second overall at the Hackathon and emerged winners of the Legora Challenge. The team comprised SMU Law students Max Ho, Francis Chua and Rajpreet Singh; together with KELVIN CHIK (SMU SCIS). Their project, LexArena, is an AI-powered advocacy training platform that enables junior lawyers and law students to practise oral advocacy before a responsive AI judge or partner. The platform provides real-time questioning and structured feedback to help users strengthen their advocacy skills.
Team SMU LIT’s participation was made possible with the generous support of the Ministry of Law, Singapore. We are indeed grateful for this support in enabling our students to bring their legal and technological expertise to an international stage.
SMU LIT HACKATHON 2026: Be an Innovator, Solve Real World Legal Challenges
SMU LIT is hosting the 2026 Hackathon with tracks provided by partners Aithena, Rajah & Tann Asia, and the Singapore Academy of Law. These tracks are brought together by a common theme for participants to brainstorm and realise innovative solutions that address real-world legal challenges that practitioners and/or the public face.

Tech Collider: The Future of Legal Careers – How Tech is Changing the Game
SMU LIT and the SMU Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship co-hosted Tech Collider: The Future of Legal Careers, a dynamic panel discussion on how technology is transforming the legal field. The event brought together students, legal tech experts, and enthusiasts to explore innovations like AI-driven solutions and new internship opportunities, leaving attendees inspired and excited for the future of law and technology.
LLM Masterclass - Smart Prompts, Smarter Results
Our LLM Masterclass equipped participants with practical skills at the intersection of law and technology. Focused on prompt crafting for legal research using tools like ChatGPT, the session included techniques for effective prompt engineering, live demos, and interactive exercises—empowering participants to harness AI for smarter, more accurate legal insights.
Panel Discussion - Unlocking the Potential of Legal Tech
Our club hosted its first Legal Tech panel of the year, Unlocking the Potential of Legal Tech: A Beginner’s Guide. Featuring expert speakers from MinLaw, SMU, NLB, and CYS Cyber Youth Academy, the panel explored how AI is transforming legal research, ethical dilemmas in legal tech, and the future of legal careers. Moderated by Lauren Koek, the engaging discussion was followed by a vibrant networking session and a delicious buffet—making it a truly memorable evening.
